Last seen in Tidewater Dance Theater Inc's December 2017 company production of Living Elements, representing the Doe in The Visitation, Maggie Oatmen joins our staff for the 2018-19 season. Maggie has an extensive portfolio of teaching experience, choreography and stage performance in the art of dance and related fields. Her training includes intermediate and advanced Ballet technique, Pointe technique, intermediate and advanced Modern technique, Jazz technique, Improvisation and more.

Maggie received her Bachelor of Art in Dance in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science in 2013 from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI.

She received the 2012 Outstanding Dance Major Award while at GVSU and was a founding member of the student dance organization, Momentum, in 2009, also serving as Secretary and Vice President prior to graduating. She was also a founding member of the Grand Rapids Dance Project, a pre-professional dance company, from 2009 - 2012.

At Grand Valley State University, Maggie performed in numerous works choreographed by students, faculty members, the Grand Rapids Dance Project and world renown guest artists. These guest artist pieces include

In the Junior and Senior Company at the Grand Rapids Ballet Company Maggie performed in works including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Peter Pan, Can-Can and Don Quixote choreographed by Gordon Peirce Schmidt & Laura Berman.

Maggie is also an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Health Fitness Specialist and is CPR/AED/First Aid Certified. Maggie obtained over 130 hours of experience at the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries, New York City, NY, assisting medical doctors, athletic trainers and physical therapists with dance patient evaluations, patient exercises, and treatment planning. She also assisted and observed therapy and educational seminars at numerous dance companies across the city and backstage at Broadway productions and aided therapists with dance medicine research and administered concussion testing and ice wraps.
